"Practice, practice, practice…" — we've all heard it a hundred times. But has anyone actually explained how?

When we hear the word "practice," most of us have this almost allergic, gut-wrenching feeling in our stomachs that we know we should be repeating the exercises, scales, etudes... and work on constantly correcting our movements, before we even get to play the music we love...

Because let's be honest, it's not the part that we enjoy.
We would rather choose to skip right into the musical pieces and tunes.
Every time.

OF COURSE — this is how our brains are wired for getting the instant dopamine spike!

But we are actually adults now, not children anymore, so we perfectly know we won't get really far like this. We need to put in THE WORK...

But here is the catch: Repeating the same notes, scale or exercise over and over is NOT the solution, even if you'll put in a whole hour — because nobody told you there was a smarter way to practice.

Here's what nobody tells you: repetition alone is not the answer. In fact, mindless repetition can actively harm your progress
because you're not just drilling technique, you're drilling your mistakes. Reinforcing them. Making them harder to fix.

And there's another thing. We've all had that feeling of picking up the instrument and everything feeling stiff, clunky, uncoordinated — like the violin has become a stranger in your own hands...
That's not a talent problem. That's a preparation problem.

The solution isn't to practice harder. It's to practice smarter — with a system.

Violin/ Viola🎻 player!

You know that moment when you take your instrument, start playing and…

it just feels offff....

Your fingers are stiff.
Your right arm doesn't feel the bow at all.
The instrument sits in your hands like the two of you have never met before.

That alone is frustrating enough.

But then there's the other thing...

You know the piece you're working on. You can hear it in your head. You can feel the emotion in it. You know exactly how it should flow when everything is in gear.

But instead of that — stiffness. Clunkiness. The joy just… disappears.

What's supposed to feel like music ends up feeling like a chore.

And somewhere along the way — quietly, invisibly — the progress has also stopped.

You think that if you still run through the same difficult passages, over and over again, you'll just get better. Somehow.

But you're not really getting better. Not as fast as you could.
And that slow, quiet frustration starts to build.

Instead of focusing on the music and feeling like an actual player, you spend the whole beginning of your practice feeling like the tin man.

Why isn't this working??..

Maaany of my students told me they feel exactly this.

And I'll be honest with you — the answer isn't that you're not talented enough, or not dedicated enough.

It's that nobody ever showed you how to actually practice.
THE PRO WAY.

So you do what most players do — you repeat things, run some scales, go through the motions, hoping something eventually clicks.

But without a clear structure, it all feels…

vague.

overwhelming.

aimless.

And here's the thing nobody talks about:

That stiff, foreign, stuck feeling at the start of your practice?

It's not just uncomfortable. It's a signal. Your body and your right hand literally aren't ready yet.

You're trying to play music before your muscles have been called into action.

That's not a talent problem. That's a warm-up problem.

And it has a very specific, very learnable solution.

At least that's what I discovered after 16 years of teaching violin and viola.

Over the years the number one question I became obsessed with as a teacher was this:

What actually gets you the most out of a practice session — in as little time as possible?

Because what I saw, with almost every student, was the same thing: repeating the same difficulties over and over without truly solving them. Wasting precious practice time. Not getting better as fast as they could.

So I spent years developing and refining a system.

Not just a set of exercises — but a complete, logical, modular warm-up routine. One that covers every essential element of violin technique — bow control, finger strength, string crossings, intonation, sound production, coordination — in as little as 5 minutes.

So that by the time you reach your music, your body and mind are already in gear.

Everything feels familiar again. The instrument feels like yours again.

And you can finally just… play.

That's exactly what The Complete Violin & Viola Warm-Up System™ is.

It's not just a system you learn in the beginning and then leave behind. It's a system built for a lifetime.

WHO IS THIS COURSE NOT FOR

Players hoping a system will fix technique, posture, or movement issues. Those need direct, ongoing attention. This course complements good fundamentals; it doesn't replace them.

Anyone unwilling to dedicate at least 5 intentional minutes per practice session.

Advanced players seeking techniques like vibrato, shifting, spiccato, ricochet, double stops, or chords. An advanced version of this course is coming — but this one is built for beginners and early intermediate players, where the foundations of mastery are formed.

FAQ

I'm a fiddler — or I play any other non-classical style. Will this course work for me?
Absolutely. The principles behind this system apply to all violin and fiddle players, regardless of style or genre. Good technique, warm hands, and a prepared bow arm are universal — and fiddlers of every tradition will benefit just as much as classical players.

Do I need to be at a certain level before starting?
You should have a few basics in place before getting the most out of this course — things like basic bow strokes, a handful of beginner tunes or melodies, and a basic familiarity with music notation. Most players reach this point within their first few months of learning. If you're already there, you're ready.

What if I have questions while going through the course?
Just send me an email describing what you're struggling with and I'll do my best to help you out personally.

How long do I have access to the course?
You have lifetime access. Take it at your own pace, revisit lessons whenever you need a refresher, and come back to it at any point in your playing journey.

I play the viola — does this course cover that too?
Yes, completely. Every exercise, element, and principle in this course applies equally to the viola. All material is also provided in alto clef, so viola players are fully covered from start to finish.
